Berhampur: In an unfortunate incident, a five-year-old boy died after he drank diesel kept in a can at a construction site, assuming it to be some kind of a drink. This incident occurred in Sheragada Kaliaghai village in Ganjam district.
The boy named as Amit Kumar Reddy was rushed to Digapahandi community health centre. He was referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital after his condition deteriorated. However, he died while undergoing treatment there.
As per reports, the boy belonged to Pathara village of Kabisuryanagar. He was on a visit to his maternal grandparents in Ramakrushnapur village of Seraguda block.
He had gone to a nearby construction site with his grandfather Thursday where he spotted diesel kept in a can near the concrete mixture machine.
Curiously, he gulped down the diesel from the vessel which caused his tragic end.
