Minor boy thrashed for trying to steal mobile in Balasore district

Balasore: A minor boy was thrashed by locals at the Simulia fish market under Baliapal police limits in Balasore district, for allegedly attempting to steal a mobile phone. The later confessed to his crime. He said he wanted to steal the phone on instructions from his mother. He added that they had no money and were starving for the last couple of days.

The minor boy is a resident of Badabazar of Jaleswar area. The duo had come to the market place when the boy attempted to steal the mobile from a person’s pocket.

However, as he was trying to pick the pocket of the man, his act was noticed by another person. He was caught red-handed and immediately a crowd gathered at the spot. They tied the boy to a wooden pole and thrashed him mercilessly. None however, informed the police despite the Baliapal police station being just a few yards away.

Baliapal police reached the spot after getting information about the incident. They rescued the minor boy and took him to custody.
