Berhampur: An 11-year old boy drowned in a pond while immersing a Ganesh idol at Chanchadapadia Sahi under Gosaninuagaon police limits in Ganjam district Sunday .
The deceased was identified as Susant Padhi, son of Jyoti Prasad Padhi at Somanath Nagar. He was rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here where doctors pronounced him brought dead.
The boy had accompanied the group taking out the Ganesh idol immersion procession to the pond. When he went into the pond along with some youth to immerse the idols he got drowned.
