Minor girl abducted, raped for one month

Bolangir: A youth allegedly abducted a minor girl from home, raped her for more than a month and abandoned later, according to a complaint at the Kantabanji Town police station.
According to reports, the 16-year-old girl is from the Singharimunda village near Sadar. She had June 7 reportedly eloped with the boy from Kukuda village near Kantabanji. Both of them stayed in a rented house at Kantabanji. The accused however left the house after one month.
During their stay, the accused had physical relationship with the girl on the pretext of marriage.
When the girl realised that she was cheated, she lodged a complaint at the station.
Kantabanji IIC Anand Charan Majhi said since the girl is from ‘Sahara’ caste, which is ST category, and the boy from Bania caste belonging to OBC category, the boy’s parents were not willing for the marriage. During their stay in rented house, his parents might have persuaded him to ditch the girl, Majhi said.
