Berhampur: A minor girl was left battling for life with severe burn injuries following a cooking stove explosion at her house at Lanjipalli of Berhampur in Ganjam district Friday.
The girl was admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. The minor girl sustained about 80 per cent of burn injuries in the mishap, medical authorities said.
On being informed, Baidyanathpur police reached the spot and started an investigation.
Sources said, the incident occurred while the minor was preparing food in the kitchen. While no exact reason of the explosion was known, locals suspected it occurred due to gas leakage in the kitchen.
Luckily, the fire was doused before it could engulf the entire house and spread to other houses.
