Ganjam: A minor was allegedly gangraped by two including her boyfriend at Badachakata village under Rambha police limits in Ganjam district. The matter came to the fore after the victim’s mother lodged a complaint in this regard Friday.
Acting on the complaint, police registered a case and detained a youth of the same village for interrogation. Later, the victim and the accused were sent for a medical examination to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. Later, the victim’s statements were recorded, Rambha IIC Namita Nayak said.
According to the complainant, the girl was into a relationship with a youth of the village. On a marriage function, the youth called the girl on some pretext and took her to an isolated place. Later, he was joined by his friend. The two brutally gangraped the girl and let her go after threatening her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.
In fear of public stigma, the girl remained silent about the matter. However, her mother noticed a change in her behavior and questioned her after which the girl disclosed the whole incident. The other accused was on the run and allegedly seeking shelter at Surat after the incident, police said, adding that he would be arrested soon.
