Bargarh: A minor boy lost his finger after a mobile phone battery exploded while charging his mobile phone at Hatikhoja village under Ambabhona block in this district Friday.
The boy sustained critical injuries on his palm while his left hand little finger was severed-off in the explosion. He has been identified as Mahesh Pradhan (12).
Sources said, the incident occurred while Pradhan was using his mobile phone while it was on charge. Due to unknown reasons, the mobile phone battery exploded. While no exact reason was known, it is suspected the mobile was over heated.
Family members rushed him to Bargarh district headquarters hospital (DHH). After preliminary treatment, he was shifted to Burla-based VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) as his condition worsened.
