Minor sister duo dies from snakebite in Subarnapur district

Subarnapur: In an untoward development, two minor daughters of a family died Tuesday night after they were bitten by a venomous snake while sleeping at home in Subarnapur district.

According to police sources, the deceased were identified to be 13-year-old Archita and her younger sister 12-year-old Nikita of Panchamahala village under Ulunda police limits in the district. The minor girls are daughters of Gopal Jagadala.

The snake bit Archita on her ear and Nikita on her leg while both were sleeping.

The parents came to know about the mishap Wednesday morning. They immediately rushed the sister duo to Subarnapur district headquarters hospital (DHH), where the doctors declared them brought dead.

On being informed, Ulunda police recovered the mortal remains and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Police have registered a case in this connection and an investigation is underway.
