Berhampur: The police Sunday arrested parents of a minor in connection with the robbery of Rs 5.25 lakh from a cement shop at Goilundi square near BN Pur in Berhampur district.
Additional Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar Routray told reporters that Rs 5.25 lakh was stolen from a cement shop Shivshakti Agency Friday. Its owner Shreedhar Padhy lodged a complaint with the police.
The police first collected captured visuals from the CCTV cameras installed at the shop.
The video showed images of a man and a minor stealing money from the shop.
The police Saturday conducted raid on the minor’s house but the boy was found absconding.
After a search operation, cash worth Rs 1.90 lakh and Rs 84,500 were recovered from his father and mother respectively.
When the parents were quizzed, they revealed that the minor had deposited Rs 1, 71, 500 with a motor cycle showroom at Berhampur for a KTM bike.
