Nuapada: In a serious jolt to Maoists, a hardcore minor woman cadre, carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh on her head, surrendered before police here, Tuesday.
The woman ultra, with the help of her family members surrendered before Parmar Smit Parshottamdas, Nuapada Superintendent of Police (SP) Tuesday morning.
She was identified as Dalmati Paharia alias Madhuri (15), a resident of Kundanjhariya village under Sinapali police limits in this district.
According to the ultra, she was forcibly inducted by one Rajiv, Anju of Sinapali LOS. The Maoist leader threatened her family members and made her join the Red Rebels. While she has trained for a week in Jholaparha area under Patdhara Reserve Forest, she has confessed to having operated in Boden and Sinapali areas.
According to police, Paharia was an active member of Sinapali LOS, an outlawed CPI (M)’s Mainpur-Nuapada Maoists Division since June 2018. She was actively involved in several incidents of violence perpetrated by the division. She had several cases pending against her at different police stations. During her stay in the party she met Kartik, secretary of Mainpur- Nuapada Division.
In just six months of her link with the Maoists, Madhuri was forced to get involved in many violence activities. Police had declared a cash reward of Rs 1 lakh on her head.
When confronted, Madhuri said that she left the organisation due to step-motherly attitude of Maoist leaders towards Odisha cadre Maoists. She confessed that Odia cadres were discriminated and humiliated by Telugu and Chhattisgarhi cadres.
She accused the senior Maoists of using innocent tribals for their selfish purposes. She, however, claimed threat to her life as she had surrendered before the police. However, the SP assured her of necessary help to join the mainstream of society.
“She will get monetary assistance as per the surrender and rehabilitation scheme of the Odisha government,” the SP said as he called out other Maoists to surrender before police and start a new life.
