Miscreant caught red handed by public

Dacoit gang busted in Choudwar, 11 held

Bhubaneswa: A motorcycle robber was, Saturday, caught red-handed while trying to decamp with the motorcycle parked in front of a mall at Unit 2 market here. The accused person, Dillip Naik, is a resident of Unit 9 area under Kharavela Nagar police limits here.

The complainant, Shankara Kumar Tripathy, is a resident of Shree Vihar in Patia under Chandrasekharpur police station limits. Tripathy, who works in a city-based private firm, went to the mall for shopping.

Tripathy went inside the mall after parking the vehicle in the mall premises, Saturday afternoon. While returning, he spotted Naik trying to open the lock of his bike with a duplicate key. When confronted by Tripathy, Naik tried to flee from the spot. However, the onlookers succeeded in capturing Naik. He was thrashed by the public before being handed over to the police.

Later, police registered a case (362/19) on the basis of the complaint lodged by Tripathy. Naik was sent to jail after the rejection of his bail plea, Saturday.
