Cuttack: A businessman was allegedly attacked with a sharp-edged weapon by at least four miscreants and looted of over Rs 1 lakh cash from him and fled the spot here late Friday night.
The trader has been identified as Pratap Swain.
The incident occurred at Aliara square when Swain was returning home from his shop in Erakana bazaar. Half-way to his house, he was intercepted by four looters who brandished sharp weapons in front of him and injured him on his neck and shoulder.
After looting Swain, the miscreants fled the spot. Swain’s relative, who was accompanying him, was also attacked and both the injured persons have been hospitalized for treatment.
According to reports, Swain was returning home with money from customers who had borrowed items from him. A complaint has been filed in this regard at Mahanga Police Station and police probe is currently underway.
“A probe is on and we will arrest the miscreants soon,” police said.
