Nirakarpur: Unidentified bike borne miscreants robbed members of two families who were on their way to Puri for Jagannath darshan in a car. The incident took place near a brick factory on new Jagannath Sadak under Nirakarpur police limits of Khurda district in the wee hours of Saturday.
The robbers looted gold jewellery and mobile phones from the passengers in the car after breaking the car windows.
According to a source, two families from K Nuagaon and Chikiti areas under K Nuagaon police limits of Ganjam district were on a trip to visit Jagannath temple and Konark in a hired car.
As their car approached the brick factory, five miscreants on two motorcycles stopped it by placing their motorcycles in front of the car. Within moments they went on to smash the windscreen and window panes to terrorise the occupants.
They decamped from the spot after looting valuables from the passengers.
The families have filed a complaint with Nirakarpur police in this context. The cops have started an investigation into the incident.
