Dhenkanal: Unidentified miscreants have looted over Rs 25 lakh in cash from an ATM of State Bank of India (SBI) in Dhenkanal district. The loot took place Monday night at the ATM kiosk located in at Nimabahali Square under Motanga police limits here. The miscreants used a gas cutter to cut open the cash dispensing machine and decamped with the cash.
After the loot came to light, Dhenkanal sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) visited the spot where the ATM kiosk is located. He said that police have launched a probe to identify the miscreants.
It should be stated here that looting of ATM counters belonging to various banks have been on the rise in this district. A group of miscreants December 3 broke open an ATM of a bank at Kamarda market in Bhograi block under Jaleswar police limits and looted cash. Just a day earlier, another ATM kiosk at Soro had been burgled by miscreants. They also used the same procedure to loot lakhs of rupees.
