Miscreants loot Rs 20 lakh from petrol pump

Keonjhar: Holding its manager at gunpoint, at least six masked miscreants, disguised as customers, allegedly looted Rs 20 lakh from a petrol pump at Padmapur under Sadar police limits of Keonjhar district, Monday.

A source said that the incident took place in the at around 4.30 AM at Reliance petrol pump located at Putulia.

“As many as six masked miscreants reached the petrol pump in two motorcycles posing as customers. After filling petrol in their vehicles, the miscreants pointed guns at the petrol pump’s manager and later they decamped with Rs 20 lakh cash,” an employee expressed.

“The looters were armed with guns and other weapons. I was sleeping in the counter at that time. One of them pointed a gun at me and entered into the cash counter by breaking open its door. They broke open the box and fled with cash,” manager Sailesh Mohanty said.

On being informed by the pump’s owner about the incident, Sadar police station IIC Jayanarayan Khandai, ASI Surya Kumar Patra and other policemen reached the spot and launched an investigation.

A detailed probe is still underway, the IIC informed.
