Kendrapara: Unidentified miscreants allegedly set ablaze the house of a resident in Kalatunga village under Mahakalapara police limits in this district late Tuesday night.
Luckily, the family members woke up and saved their lives. No casualty was reported in the incident. However, household items, groceries, important documents and electronic gadgets worth lakhs were reduced to ashes in the fire.
The incident occurred while the family was asleep after dinner. Some miscreants set the house on fire and fled. Due to the blaze, family members woke up and alerted their neighbours who tried to douse the flames.
However, after failed effort, fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames.
The family members have lodged a complaint at Tantiaplal Samudrika police station in this connection today. Based on the complaint, the police have launched a probe into the matter.
