Missing college student’s body found from forest, murder suspected

Dhenkanal: The body of a college student who had gone missing for last two days was found from a forest near the Siminai College in Dhenkanal district Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Bidyadhar Pradhan, a Plus III Arts student of Siminai College of Banamali Prasad village.

The body was spotted by locals at the nearby forest about one kilometer away from the college.

On being informed, police and scientific team reached the spot, started investigation and sent the body for autopsy.

“The deceased student’s father had lodged a missing complaint with Sadar police two days back and investigation into the incident is on. The exact cause of the death can only be ascertained after receiving the post-mortem report”, said a police official.

The family members of the deceased have alleged it to be a murder over a failed love affair.

One sided love affair might have led to this murder, alleged a relative of Bidyadhar.

Recounting an incident that occurred on the day when the victim went missing, one of the relatives said, “A girl had come to Bidyadhar’s house Monday. She alleged that they had an affair for the last three years and has recently ditched her. She threatened of dire consequences as Bidyadhar’s mother did not allow her to enter the house. Following the incident, Bidyadhar went missing.”

The relative further informed, “His mother even talked to him over mobile phone on that fateful day for the last time. He was crying and then the phone was switched off.”

Meanwhile, police have also started investigating the love angle in the case.
