Missing vice-chairperson rescued from Sonepur

Bonai: Police rescued the vice chairperson of Bonai Block in Sundergarh district, Friday who had been missing since January 4 from Sonepur in Subarnapur district.

Tikayatpali police had launched a search operation for the missing block VC after her husband Prasanna Behera lodged a complaint at the police station. In his complaint, he had alleged that his wife was kidnapped.

On receipt of the complaint, police registered a case and launched a search operation to trace missing vice-chairperson of Bonai block. Police, after the rescue, brought back the missing VC Binati Behera to Bonai. Police tracked her mobile phone and nabbed a contractor Janmejaya Sahu of Telkoi area in Keonjhar district.

Later, assisted by Sahu, police rescued Behera from Sonepur. They were taken for questioning where the woman stated to have gone with Janmejaya on her own volition and will stay with him in coming days. However, police refused to speak on the issue and share any details about the case.
