Bhubaneswar: The Health and Family Welfare department’s vaccination drives have benefitted around six lakh people in the state.
As per statistics of the Union Health Ministry under Mission Indradhanush, 6,43,491 people were vaccinated in the state. This included 5,02,982 children and 1,40,509 pregnant women.
During each phase of the mission, seven days of intense immunisation drives were carried out for three to four months in low immunisation areas, areas with vaccine preventable diseases, high risk areas and others. The mission aimed at reaching all left-out children and pregnant women.
Mission Indradhanush was executed in six phases and also as part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan and extended Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. Around 680 districts across 36 states and Union Territories were covered by the mission.
Routine immunisation drives are carried out across the country for children and pregnant women. Under the programme, free immunisation is provided through hospitals, block primary health centres, primary health centres and sub-centres.
