Baripada: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated and laid foundation stones for several projects during his visit to Rairangpur in Mayurbhanj district Sunday.
The following are the significant developments during the visit.
Party leaders shine
- A day ahead of CM’s visit, district BJD observer, Arun Kumar Sahoo and Rairangpur observer and MLA Umakanta Samantaray camped at Rairangpur. Block and constituency level observers also joined them.
- Though government officials were present at the meeting site, the party supporters worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the programme.
Media attention
Unlike the shabby treatment suffered by media professionals during CM’s visit to Baripada January 30, journalists have been treated well here. Special sitting arrangements were made for the reporters to cover the event.
Some government staffers were present with the journalists throughout the event for queries and deliberation; organisers also visited the media gallery to enquire if the journalists were facing any issues.
Invitation to Naveen Niwas
Video messages of CM were played on LED screens at the site. In the video, the CM spoke about the issues that concern and also invited the participating women to visit Naveen Niwas.
Observers vs police
The police made ample arrangements to ensure that the event would be conducted smoothly. The police only allowed people with passes to the meeting site. A scuffle ensued when a police official blocked entry of a party observer without a pass. Later the matter was solved amicably following the intervention of party leaders and senior police officials.
