Cuttack: Peeved at the inordinate delay in the work for two crucial infrastructure projects here, a voluntary organisation has written to the Chief Minister seeking his intervention in the issue.
Maitree Sansad, a social outfit, has expressed its displeasure over the delay in construction of a bus terminal for the Silver City at Gopalpur and a seven-storey building at Sishu Bhawan here.
“The authorities concerned have neither completed the tender process for the twin projects nor did they take any other step to execute the projects,” said the outfit in a letter to the Chief Minister.

- The Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone for the seven-storey building at Sishu Bhawan Feb 3, 2016
- Though the govt had sanctioned Rs 1.12 cr for the hospital infra, the work is yet to commence
- The govt had handed over 42 acre to Transport dept for a bus terminal at Gopalpur, but the area is yet to be fenced
According to the outfit, the Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone for the seven-storey building at Sishu Bhawan February 3, 2016. The state government had sanctioned about Rs 1.12 crore for the project. However, the Health department has failed to implement the project even though two and half years have passed since the foundation was laid.
“Many patients are facing loads of difficulties to avail beds at the childcare hospital. The proposed building may solve the problem,” said the outfit.
Similarly, the state government had decided to set up a bus terminal at Gopalpur to ease traffic congestion near Badambadi bus stand. It had handed over 42 acre of land to the Commerce and Transport department for the purpose. However, the authorities are yet to begin the construction work. “The Transport department has failed to lay a boundary wall for the proposed bus terminus. Some people are trying to encroach upon the land allocated for this project,” claimed the outfit in its letter to the CM.
