Bhubaneswar: Top seed Anshu Kumar Bhuyan and second seed Chinmay Pradhan won their respective men’s singles matches quite easily Tuesday in the Gurukul AITA-OTA 50K tennis tournament at the Gurukul tennis resort here Tuesday.
Ansu defeated Vasu Gupta (UP) 6-1, 6-0 while Pradhan had no difficulty in suppressing the challenge of compatriot Sangram Kumar Patra 6-3, 6-3. In other important matches played on the day third seed Taha Kapadia beat Odisha’s Kumar Anurag Saran 6-0, 6-1 while sixth-seeded Arghya Das of West Bengal trounced coach-cum-player Odisha’s Santosh Mallick 6-3, 6-3.
Thirty five participants from 10 states are participating in the tournament giving the tournament a good flavour. The winner and runner-up in the men’s segment will get 15 and 12 points respectively.
