Burla: A girl who was a postgraduate student at Maharaja Krishna Chandra Gajapati (MKCG) Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, died under unusual circumstances Thursday, a source said.

The deceased was identified as Subhani Patnaik, a student of the Dermatology, Venereology, Leprosy Department at MKCG medical college.

According to the source, Subhani was rescued from her hostel room in an unresponsive state and was rushed to the hospital. However, she died while undergoing treatment.

Though the exact reason behind the medico’s death was not ascertained, an overdose of migraine medicine is suspected to be the reason behind her death, the source informed.

There was no allegation of foul play from the family members of the deceased at the time of filing this report.

Police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem to ascertain the exact cause of death.

A case of unnatural death has been registered and an investigation is underway.
