Bhubaneswar: For its initiatives in bringing excellence to higher education in Odisha, ‘Mo College Abhijan’ received the prestigious ‘SKOCH’ award, known for its independent and rigorous outcome-based assessment process, Sunday. Mo College chairperson Akash Dasnayak was presented the award in a ceremony at Annexe Hall of the Constitution Club of India in New Delhi Saturday. More than a thousand departments of several state governments participated in the competition for the award. The procedure for the selection of the winner involved three major steps: PR voting, online voting, and jury evaluation. “The most useful outcome of the SKOCH assessment process is that it benchmarks well-performing projects and their outcomes.
For the last two decades, SKOCH awards have been giving recognition to people, projects, and institutions that go the extra mile to make India a better nation,” said an official. The award recognises the best efforts in digital, financial, and social inclusion. “It encompasses the best of governance, inclusive growth, excellence in technology and applications, change management, corporate leadership, corporate governance, citizen services delivery, capacity building, empowerment and other such issues that get normally lost at the industry-sponsored award shows,” explained the official.
Similarly, the Mo College Abhijan Parichalana Sangathan (MCAPS) is working to bring educational and infrastructural transformation to around 850 colleges, universities, BEd colleges, polytechniques, engineering, and government-aided colleges. Previously, ‘Mo School Abhijan’ and the state government’s high school transformation programme had also been honored with the Skoch Gold awards for their efforts at strengthening the school ecosystem in Odisha.
