Bhubaneswar: In an attempt to ameliorate the situation of cash crunch post cyclone, two mobile ATM vans were flagged off under the aegis of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) here Thursday.
According to sources the mobile ATM vans, one of Axis Bank and the other of ICICI Bank, were dedicated to the citizens by the Additional Commissioner Ananya Das.
On the occasion, the BMC additional commissioner said, “The ATM vans will help the people as many ATMs are lying defunct due to lack of network and also help people in getting cash in uncovered areas across the city.”
A senior bank official said unlike micro ATMs these mobile ATM vans will help people get more cash subject to the limits set by the respective banks.
He also clarified that the mobile ATM service has been launched in view of the post-cyclone situation and it would continue till the general ATMs attain normalcy. Currently, both Axis and ICICI banks will run one mobile ATM vans each across the Capital city.
