Modi in Sonia Gandhi’s constituency Raebareli

Raebareli: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Raebareli on his first trip to the traditional seat of the Gandhi family.

He did not back off from taking on the Congress at its stronghold in Raebareli.

At the railway coach factory of the constituency — represented in parliament by Sonia Gandhi for nearly 20 years — the PM attacked the Congress over its allegations on joblessness, saying the factory, which could employ thousands, had not been functioning for four years.

He also attacked over the Rafale verdict by Supreme Court, the AgustaWestland deal and the Bofors deal.

Speaking at his first public meeting in the constituency, “I want to know from the Congress — is it agitated today and telling lie after lie because the BJP government’s defence deals do not have any Quattrocchi “mama“, Christian Michel uncle?” PM Modi said.

The visit comes days after the BJP lost the three heartland states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to the Congress and its allies. It also failed to make headway in Telangana and west Mizoram from the Congress.
