Modi, Naveen greet people on Nuakhai

Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Governor Ganeshi Lal, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan were among a host of top leaders who greeted the people of the state Tuesday on the occasion of Nuakhai – an agrarian festival celebrated with pomp and gaiety – especially in Western Odisha.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said ‘Nuakhai Juhar.’

“One of the most ancient festivals of Odisha, may this auspicious occasion further the spirit of prosperity, especially among our hardworking farmers. Praying for everyone’s good health and well-being,” Modi tweeted.

Governor Ganeshi Lal also wished the people happiness and progress through a tweet.

In his tweet, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said ‘ My heartfelt greetings and congratulation to the people on the occasion of Nuakhai, a festival of peace, amity and fun.’

He wished growth and prosperity of farming community of the state along with the development of the state with the blessings of Goddess Samaleswari, the presiding deity of Western Odisha.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan also took to tweeter to greet the people of the state on the occasion of the celebration of the agrarian festival Nuakhai.

Nuakhai is observed in Western Odisha to celebrate the reaping of the new crop. The state government has declared the day as holiday across the state.
