Bhawanipatna: Vigilance sleuths caught Mohangiri forester Rudraprasad Gahir red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 to reinstate a former employee Saturday.
According to a source, Sudhan Bhoi had been working as a member of ITECS squad on a contractual basis at M Rampur forest range in Kalahandi district.
He was initially transferred to Kegaon few days ago and then was terminated from his job.
Forester Gahir had asked Bhoi for Rs 10,000 to reinstate him. Bhoi then sought the help of the vigilance department and accordingly a trap was laid.
Accordingly, Gahir was caught red-handed by a vigilance team led by DSP Satyaban Mahananda while he was receiving the chemical laced notes from Bhoi at the former’s rented accommodation. The team also conducted raids at the properties owned by him at various locations.
Vigilance DSP Mahananda, inspector Kalabati Bag, Santosh Mohanty, steno Siba Prasad Pradhan and constable Prakash Chandra Behera were part of the team.
