Cuttack: Advocate Gopalkrushna Mohanty has been elected as the president of Orissa High Court Bar Association in an election here Saturday.
Mohanty has defeated advocate Buddhadeb Routray by 21 votes. Mohanty was polled 1,135 votes while Routray managed to secure 1,114 votes.
Similarly, advocate Sanjay Kumar Das has been elected as the secretary of HC Bar Association. Das has defeated his nearest rival Manoj Kumar Khuntia by 192 votes.
According to sources, Das managed to secure altogether 817 votes while Khuntia was polled 625 votes.
On the other hand, advocate Piyush Kumar Mishra has been elected as the vice-president of HC Bar Association. Mishra defeated his nearest rival Devi Prasad Das by 96 votes. According to sources, altogether 1,234 members of the Bar Association voted for Mishra while Das was polled 1,138 votes.
Advocate Jateswar Nayak has been elected as the joint secretary of the lawyers’ body while Padmalaya Mahapatra has been elected as the assistant secretary. Besides, Somnath Satpathy has been elected as the assistant secretary (library) of the lawyers’ body.
