Monsoon retreats from Odisha

Bhubaneswar:   The regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Tuesday said the southwest monsoon has completely retreated from the state as of Tuesday.

“The southwest monsoon has further withdrawn from entire Odisha as of October 15, 2019,” head of the regional meteorological centre HR Biswas said.

The centre, in its afternoon bulletin, meanwhile predicted that light to moderate rain or thunder-shower are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Gajapati until 8:30am of Wednesday. Dry weather is likely to prevail over rest districts of the state.

Capital city of Bhubaneswar will experience partly cloudy sky. Maximum and Minimum temperatures are very likely to be around 32 degrees Celsius and 22 degrees Celsius respectively during the same period.

The rains, however, will return to the state Thursday and Friday.

Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati, Ganjam, Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj Thursday while similar weather conditions are likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Ganjam and Gajapati Friday.
