Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Thursday said stagnation in further advance of southwest monsoon is likely for the coming one week due to the weakening of the monsoon circulation pattern.
It will take at least another week to touch all parts of the state.
“Due to weakening of monsoon, the rainfall has been decreased in many parts of the state. In the same time, the day temperature has been slightly increased. This type of condition will continue for another week,” said director of Bhubaneswar Met Centre HR Biswas.
He said so far 12 to 13 districts have been covered by the south-west monsoon while others districts will be covered with the monsoon in another week.
The weather will remain almost dry in state. However, he said, thunderstorm will continue to occur in a few places across the state in these days.
As strong and gusty surface wind with speed 35 to 45 kmph likely to prevail along and off Odisha coast, the weather department advised fishermen not to venture into sea during next 48 hours.
