Bhubaneswar: The city is facing a money crunch in the wake of the destruction caused by cyclone Fani as the ATMs in the city are either not working due to lack of electricity or have been damaged by the cyclone.
Since the day Cyclone Fani struck the capital city May 3, the ATMs in the city are left defunct. Some of the ATMs which started working saw long queues. Most people were left distraught as they were unable to withdraw cash.
Ajay Mohanty a college student said, “If we compare demonetization period with this than its far worse as the problem of defunct ATMs is compounded by the lack of water and electricity. In many areas people are going to different water bodies for their daily uses. Most ATMs in the city are permanently damaged due to the cyclone.
The city might have to suffer for some more days as official sources said that the power supply in Bhubaneswar will be restored in phases
