Most iconic villains of Hindi cinema

Let’s think about a movie without a villain- no twists, no revenge, and no tragedy nothing, there will be no evil laugh, no creepy stalkers, no wild-pet animals, and none of those extremely sexy vamps either. Even if heroes are not the actual reason for a film to do well at the box office, some stories seem bland without evil villains.

Here are the top villains who graced the Hindi film industry:

Mogambo

Mogambo is till date one of the most dangerous villains the industry has ever produced. He is a brilliant yet insane retired Army General who wants to conquer India. From his remote hidden island, he monitors all the evil-doings by his henchmen. With his brilliant sense of dressing and the desperation to conquer the world, Mogambo had everything that an ideal villain must have.

Gabbar

Gabbar has a sadistic personality with a menacing laugh and a powerful voice. Gabbar is, undoubtledly, the most iconic of all villains. He made everyone feel as threatened as Kaliya whenever he uttered “Ab tera kya hoga Kaliya.”

Ranjeet

The most popular on-screen rapist, Ranjeet has acted in more than 200 movies. Just by his lascivious gaze, he could make many females shudder with fear. Remember the dialouge “Bhagwan ke liye mujhe chhod do”?  Even after decades of mouthing such lines, he is still identified with such dialogues.

Shakaal

Shakaal is an international crime lord and a sadistic villain who rejoices in pain of his enemies and traitors operating from a remote island outside India. With cunning eyes and fingers tapping on the bald head, Shakaal’s pit was full of hungry crocodiles, which was every kid’s nightmare.

Prem Chopra

The Indian James Bond with the signature dialogue, ‘Prem naam hai mera, Prem Chopra’, Prem Chopra was a soft-spoken, ever-smiling villain. His crude attitude and charming features often led people to trust him.
