Balasore: In a bizarre incident, a 12-year-old boy hanged himself to death after his poor widowed mother failed to buy a new dress for him.
The incident was reported from Bardhanpur village under Balasore Sadar police limits Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Dambaru Dalai (12), a Class V student at Bardhanpur Primary School and son of late Mangal Dalai. The matter came to the fore after his mother found him hanging inside the toilet Sunday morning.
According reports, Dambaru asked for a new dress to attend his father’s death anniversary. When his mother denied him, he allegedly hung himself with a scarf of his sister inside toilet late Saturday night.
Police recovered the body and sent it for postmortem while a probe was launched.
