Bant: A woman has repeatedly tweeted about her bedridden son and her inability to provide him treatment to draw the attention of the administration for help at Nimapada in this block of Bhadrak district.
As the administration has failed to take note of the tweets, the woman, Gitarani Panda, has warned that she will give poison to her son, Manas Panda, (24) and she herself would also commit suicide.
Manas was critically wounded in an accident February on way to Cuttack. He was admitted to a private hospital in Cuttack. His family spent Rs 8,00,000 for his treatment by selling their land. Thereafter unable to spend any more money, the family relieved Manas from the hospital and took him home.
The family was provided Rs 20,000 from CMRF in July and Manas was also sent to AIIMS Bhubaneswar. Later, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital and again brought home. He is now surviving on liquid diet.
Social activist Padmalochan Behera has been tweeting the District Collector and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on behalf of the family for a long time. The audio clip of Gitarani’s suicide threat has also been uploaded in the tweet. However, the Collector could not be contacted on phone regarding this.
