Motor transport SI under Vigilance scanner

Kendrapara: Vigilance sleuths raided the houses of a police sub-inspector of Pattamundai motor transport department Thursday morning, on charge of accumulating assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, a report said.

Acting on the allegation against Mallick, a team of anti-corruption wing carried out simultaneous raids at five places including his residence and office at Pattamundai town in Kendrapara district.

The officer has been identified as Janmejaya Mallick. Verification of several documents and papers by the anti-corruption wing pertaining to the allegation was underway till last reports came in.

Corruption has become rampant here after the state government implemented the Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act 2019. As the vehicle owners get panicky for obtaining various documents, this has given rise to unscrupulous activities.
