New Delhi: The Maharaja Purna Chandra (Autonomous) College in Baripada won the prestigious National Service Scheme Award 2017-18 at a function held at Rashtrapati Bhawan Tuesday.
This educational institution bagged the award for having one of the best National Service Scheme (NSS) units in the country. President Ram Nath Kovind presented a trophy and a cash award of Rs 1 lakh to MPC College Principal Jharana Behera at a glittering function held at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Programme Officer Kailash Chandra Mishra was presented with a silver medal, certificate, and cash award of Rs 70,000.
Ministry of Youth Affairs awarded the NSS Award to recognize and reward outstanding contributions towards voluntary community service made by the Universities/Senior Secondary (+2) Councils, NSS Units/Programme Officers and NSS Volunteers every year.
