Bhubaneswar: With the multiplex chain Cinepolis starting its operations at the Esplanade Mall in Rasulgarh here Sunday evening, the vehicular passage near the mall witnessed utter chaos.
Adding to the woes were the mall staff, sitting ducks, as cars and two-wheelers entered the mall from the wrong side.
The gridlock gave a tough time to several commuters and also to employees of the industrial units and media houses located at the Rasulgarh Industrial Estate.
“Many cars continued to enter the mall from the wrong side near the Punjab National Bank. Neither the mall authorities came to the aid of the commuters, nor was there any arrangement from the Traffic department,” said Jayant Behera, who was stuck with his six-month-old kid in a car near the mall. Several other commuters also echoed similar sentiment. “The Bomikhal flyover has been under-construction for the last several years and till date only a portion of it has been completed. This, coupled with poor road layout, has worsened the scenario,” said Prajyoti Pati, another commuter passing through the area.
