Sanghamitra Dalei elected BeMC Mayor
BJD’s Sanghamitra Dalei elected as the Mayor of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation defeating her nearest rival Sabit Suar of the BJP by a margin of over 20,000 votes.
BJD sweeps BeMC polls
The BJD continued its winning march in the elections to the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC). BJD candidates won 30 of the 42 corporator seats where polling was conducted. The BJP won seven seats, the Congress 1 and others emerged victorious in four seats. BJD candidates R Pabani, Surendra Moharana and Samir Mishra were elected unopposed from Ward Nos. 15, 32 and 35 respectively.
BJD set to sweep ULB polls
The ruling BJD was leading in three municipal corporations and 73 other urban local bodies in Odisha as the counting of votes was underway Saturday, according to the State Election Commission. BJD candidates were leading in 73 civic bodies for the post of chairpersons, followed by the BJP in 16 and the Congress in seven, while others, including Independent candidates, were ahead in nine ULBs. The ruling party’s mayor candidates in three municipal corporations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur had also established healthy leads over their nearest rivals.

BJD’s lead grows
The BJD is well on the way to establish its supremacy in the elections to the three municipal corporations of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur. In the BMC, the BJD is leading in 17 of the 67 seats for corporators. The BJP is leading in five while others in two. In the CMC, the BJD is leading in 18 of the 59 seats while in Berhampur, it is ahead in 23 of the 42 seats.

So far results of 10 seats have been declared for the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation. BJD has won seven seats, the BJP two and one Independent candidate has emerged victorious. The Congress is yet to open its account. Among the winners are former minister Damodar Rout’s daughter Pritinanda Routray who has won from Ward No.6, Mihir Kumar Rout from Ward No.1 and Monalisa Behera from Ward No.2
BJD wins 7 corporator seats as of now, BJP 1 and Independent candidate wins 1 seat in Bhubaneswar while Congress is yet to open an account.
BJD set for landslide win
Counting is also on for the posts of councillors in the urban local bodies polls in Odisha. Out of the 1,731 posts, counting is currently on for 1,049 seats. The BJD is all set for a landslide win as its candidates are leading in 721 seats while the BJP is leading in 164 seats. The Congress has established leads in 97 seats while others are leading in 67 seats.
Subhash Singh’s lead grows
Cuttack Municipal Corporations Subhash Singh (20,884) has established a healthy lead of over 5,000 votes against his nearest rival Congress’ Giribala Behera (15,793) votes. BJP’s Sritam Das with 7,073 votes is way behind at third position.

Counting for the Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur Municpal Corporations is currently on. Early trends show that the BJD is well ensconced to emerge victorious in all the three corporations.
In the BMC BJD is leading in 11 out of 67 seats while the BJP is leading in two.
In the CMC, the BJD is leading in 18 of the 59 seats. BJP and Congress candidates are leading in one and two seats respectively while others have established leads in three seats.
In the BeMC elections, the BJD is leading in 13 of the 42 seats while the BJP and Congress candidates have established leads in two and one seat respectively.

Healthy leads for BJD in mayor elections
The BJD has established healthy leads in the mayor elections for Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Berhampur municipal corporations.
In the BMC mayor elections BJD’s Sulochana Das with 11,312 votes is leading aganst BJP’s Suniti Mund (7058 votes) and Madhusmita Acharya of the Congress (434 votes).
In the BeMC contest, BJD’s Sanghamitra Dalai is ahead by over 7,000 votes against BJP’s Sabita Suar.
However, in Cuttack, BJD’s Subhash Singh is facing a stiff fight from Giribala Behera of the Congress. Subhash is leading by a little over a thousand votes.
