Murder mystery of student cracked; 5 held

Remuna, June 16: Police Tuesday cracked the murder mystery of Plus-III student Krushna Gopal that took place June 10 in Naraharipur under Remuna police limits in Balasore with arrest of five persons, who have confessed to their crime.

The accused persons were identified as Biswajit Biswal (21) of Sireipur, Soumyaranjan Parida (21), of Emami campus, Talu alias Shekhar (25) of Coastal Colony, Rohit (21) of Ispat Colony and Shubhankar Biswas of Balgopalpur. They were produced in a court.

The police after arresting the prime accused Biswajit took him to a pond where they had committed the crime. Police recovered a sharp-edged weapon near the pond. All the five told the police that they had taken drugs and were involved in various illegal activities. Krushna Gopal was staying in a rented house near Ispat Chhak after his family members opposed his bad habits.

The accused also stated that the victim used to plant hidden cameras in bedrooms and bathrooms of several women and youths and had their obscene pictures. He earned good money by selling these pictures.

Krushna Gopal had even kept objectionable pictures kin of his five friends. The accused further told the police that they were extremely angry when they learnt about his wayward behaviour. They had advised him to refrain from these activities, but the latter did not pay heed.
One day, the victim had even made character assassination of a sister of Rohit (one of the accused). Thereafter, the accused decided to eliminate him. They made him drink wine at his room before hacking him to death and dumped the body in the pond and returned home.
