Mutilated body recovered from well

Begunia: A mutilated body of a youth was recovered from an abandoned well near Dingar by fire service personnel under Begunia police limits here Sunday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Sheikh Tafiq, 30, of Gadakadab.

According to reports, Tafiq was working in a butcher shop and had been missing since Wednesday. January 9, he went for work but did not return till evening. Worried, his relatives started looking for him but could not trace him. Later, the relatives lodged a complaint with the police.

Tariq’s relatives alleged that he might have been murdered.

Angry over the incident, the locals staged a protest on Khurda-Bolangir NH 57 and burnt tyres demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

On being informed, Begunia police inspector in-charge Rashmi Ranjan Sahu reached the spot and told the protestors that after post-mortem only the exact reason of the death can be ascertained.

Later, Khurda Additional SP reached the spot and had a discussion with the protesters. However, the locals had not withdrawn the protest till the last report came in.
