Koraput: A man died of a mysterious disease at Tukum village under Lamtaput block in Koraput district Saturday. Three other patients are undergoing treatment for the same disease.
The deceased has been identified as Damu Kishan. It is said that he breathed his last after showing symptoms such as fever and losing consciousness.
According to a source, some villagers had consumed beef recently. For the last few days, some of them haven’t been keeping well, complaining of running temperature.
Meanwhile, a five-member medical team has reached the village. It has collected blood samples from the suspects and also carried out health check-ups of the villagers.
The three patients are kept under isolation and receiving treatment, it was learnt.
Several sources, meanwhile suggested that these could be cases of anthrax, though it is yet to be medically confirmed. It may be mentioned here that anthrax mainly affects domestic or wild herbivores animals. People get affected when they come in contact with infected animals.
