Nabakalebara infra: PSUs, cos to chip in with logistics

Puri, June 14: Several PSUs and corporate houses will chip in with logistics for the benefit of devotees and volunteers during the upcoming Nabakalebara festivals here.

Sources in the district administration said Paradip Port Trust (PPT) would provide 30 LED screens for the mega event. The LED screens will be installed at a few strategic spots in the city as well as at makeshift camps and parking lots during Srigundicha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra, Sunabesha, Sandhya Darshan and Niladribije.

The State Bank of India (SBI) has expressed willingness to supply jackets for 5,000 volunteers and construct eight traffic posts for the grand festival. Besides, the largest public sector bank will install roadmaps at 10 strategic locations and 58 information boards across the city, the sources said.

Likewise, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will provide jackets for 6,000 volunteers and install a few traffic signal boards for the benefit of commuters. Tata Steels has agreed to look after cleanliness on the Grand Road from July 1 to 31. Similarly, Vedanta, Orissa Power Grid Corporation, Dredging Corporation of India and Ind Bharat Energy will spend Rs 1.5 crore for the development of a parking lot at Samang, said collector Aravind Agarwal.

According to sources, National Aluminium Company (Nalco) has assured the administration to provide 17 PCR vans for a month. Apart from that, the aluminium major will donate 10 lakh drinking water pouches and supply 250 mobile toilets to devotees.

“State-owned Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has donated Rs 5.65 crore for installation of high mast lights across the city while Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC) has donated Rs 5 crore for expansion of roads near Srimandir.
The Jindal Group has agreed to donate Rs 12.5 lakh for the installation of a few makeshift toilets during Rath Yatra. Besides, it will distribute food packets to 1 lakh devotees,” Agarwal said.
