Bhubaneswar: NABARD launched a Climate Literacy Campaign Saturday through plantation activity under collective mode to be covered in all the 30 districts of Odisha. The campaign was launched by state minister of Forest and Environment Bijayshree Routray in the presence of NABARD CGM KC Panigrahi.
While welcoming the participants, Panigrahi said that the campaign will continue till August 31. “Under the climate literacy campaign, around 30 lakh sapling will be planted across the state in co-ordination with department of forest,” he said.
“Four climate literacy campaigns will be conducted in each district involving all the stakeholders to educate the villagers about impact of climate change and possible solution to adapt and mitigate the impact of climate change,” the CGM added.
Minister Routray appreciated the efforts of NABARD and requested all the participants to whole-heartedly support the campaign for betterment of the future generation.
Last year, a similar campaign under the theme Water Conservation was also held in 5556 villages in the state. The campaign received encouraging response at the field level.
NABARD has been implementing large number of watershed development projects in various states to sensitise the rural community during the campaigns.
