Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the crucial general elections, BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Tuesday reshuffled the party rank and file.
According to a press release issued by the party, Debasis Samantray has been removed from his post of BJD general secretary and appointed as the party’s Cuttack district president replacing Pratap Jena.
BJD leader Bimbadhar Kuanr has been appointed the in-charge of the Biju Shramika Samukhya, while former Union minister Chandrasekhar Sahu and Bikram Panda have been appointed vice-president and general secretary respectively.
Similarly, youth leader from Ganjam, Bikram Panda has been appointed as the party’s general secretary. Party spokesperson Sasmit Patra has been appointed as the secretary of the BJD Minority Cell. Ashish Chakraborty has been replaced by Bimbadhar Biswal as the Keonjhar district BJD president.
The new secretaries of the party are Ashok Bal, Sangram Keshari Paikray, Pramod Kumar Sahu, Ashish Chakrabarty, Rabi Samal, Tapan Das and T Prasad Rao Dora.
Pramod Kumar Rath has been relieved from the post of the party’s Sambalpur district president. Sources said that the party leadership has taken the decision to remove Rath for protesting against the Sambalpur MLA during the recent visit of the party’s Sambalpur district observer Pratap Deb to Rengali.
Besides, Mohammed Shakil has been appointed as the co-observer of Salepur and Mahanga Assembly constituencies. Manohar Randhari, Pritam Meher, Shiba Pattnayak and Natayan Patra have been appointed as co-observers of Dabugaon, Bolangir, Lakhmipur and Kotpad Assembly constituencies respectively.
On the other hand, the party chief has revoked the suspension orders of Champua’s Kusha Apat and Belagunda’s Ranjan Kumar Khandual and Rama Khandual.
