Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Saturday expressed hope that the state police would take exemplary action against those involved in the sexual abuse of minor girls.
Patnaik said this after inaugurating a workshop on the safety of women and children here.
“The police have a responsibility to create a secure environment for the citizens. I expect the state police to take prompt, effective and exemplary action against anti-socials and criminals,” the chief minister said.
Patnaik also appreciated the association of National Police Foundation & Institute and the UNICEF for organizing the workshop.
He also released a documentary film and a coffee table book on ‘Paree Paain Kathatiye’ (Tales for the little angels),
an awareness campaign against child sexual abuse.
Opposition BJP and Congress members had created ruckus in the Assembly last month demanding resignation of the
chief minister over rising cases of missing children and rape incidents of minor girls in the state.
