Bhubaneswar: In a programme held at 7th Battalion Ground Saturday here, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik dedicated 190 new police vehicles to enhance operational capacities of the law enforcement agency.
“The inclusion of these 190 vehicles is no less than a transformative development for the Odisha Police. A total of 224 vehicles of various categories will be added to the fleet in 2023-24, for which a budgetary provision has been made of 33 crore. The remaining 34 vehicles will soon be received,” said a senior police official.
Of these 190 vehicles, the Odisha Mining Corporation Limited (OMCL) contributed 44 to strengthen policing in mining areas, to expedite patrolling and help in elimination of illegal extraction of minerals in these areas.
“This addition of vehicles is in line with the commitment to improving public safety, enhancing response time during emergencies, ensuring justice, solving crimes, and creating a secure environment for the citizens,” added the official.
Along with 5T Secretary VK Pandian, Minister of State (home) Tusharkanti Behera, DGP Sunil Kumar Bansal and senior police officers were present during the flagging-off ceremony. RK Sharma, ADGP headquarters conducted the programme.
