Naveen launches online land revenue payment system

Bhubaneswar:  In a major relief to farmers and others facing difficulties in making payments for land rent, Odisha has launched the online land revenue payment system in the state.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched the system on the occasion of 73rd Independence Day here Thursday.

“This system would provide great relief to farmers who had to run to various government offices to pay land rent,” Patnaik said.

Developed by NIC Bhubaneswar, the system will enable farmers to make payments within minutes and get rent receipts, he said.

This is the first of its kind initiative by the state Revenue department under the Odisha government’s ‘5-T mantra’ to provide better services to the people.

The state government has recently adopted 5T -Time, Teamwork, Technology, Transparency- as its ‘mantra’ (formula) for the better governance in Odisha.

Patnaik also dedicated Mahatma Gandhi’s Talisman as part of his 150th birth anniversary celebrations. Veteran freedom fighters Bhavani Charan Patnaik and Nilamani Samal were present on the occasion.

Gandhi’s Talisman is inscribed on a brass plate in English and Odia languages with a sketch of the legendary leader.

The Chief Minister has also inaugurated the newly constructed Kharavela Bhavan at an estimated cost of Rs 128 crore and the building will house 11 departments of the state government.
