Naveen raps Modi govt for not revising coal royalty

Angul:   BJD supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has yet again criticised the Union government for not revising coal royalty in past five years.

In a video that is doing rounds across social media platforms, Naveen is seen discussing this issue with four others.

Questioned, if the central government is neglecting the state, the Chief Minister answers, “The Center has not revised the coal royalty in last five years. This has led to a loss of Rs 10,000 crore to state exchequer”.

“This is injustice to Odisha. This is injustice for Odia young men,” he adds.

The video has since gone viral like his earlier video where he was seen working out in the gardens of his residence Naveen Niwas.

It may be mentioned here that addressing an election meeting at Angul, he had raised this issue Thursday as well.

“Revision of coal royalty would take only five minutes but the central government failed to do it in the last five years. While the Center earned a large amount of tax from coal, the state got only pollution and dust,” he accused.

This apart, training his gun on PSUs, he rued that even though MCL and NTPC earn thousands of crore from their operations in the state, they do nothing for the development of their localities.
