Naveen wishes Amitabh on Dadasaheb Phalke win

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Wednesday took to Twitter to congratulate Amitabh Bachchan after the legendary actor was announced to receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award.

The Chief Minister said that the actor has inspired generations of cine lovers and actors.

“Congratulate @SrBachchan on being selected to receive #DadaSahabPhalke award. The iconic actor has entertained and inspired generations of movie goers and actors with his prodigious talent,” Patnaik tweeted.

76 years old Bachchan, who has presented memorable performances on a number of occasions in a career spanning five decades in the cine industry, was Tuesday named the Dadasaheb Phalke award recipient for the year 2018 for his contribution to the Indian film industry.

This apart, Bachchan has won numerous accolades in his career, including four National Film Awards as Best Actor, overall fifteen Filmfare Awards and is the most nominated performer in any major acting category at Filmfare with 41 nominations overall.

The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1984, the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015 for his contributions to arts. The Government of France honoured him with its highest civilian honour ‘Knight of the Legion of Honour’ in 2007 for his exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond.
